Ramsey Consulting Group was tasked by Harman Consumer Group to implement Quick Start Guides for their rapid end of product development cycles on some hot new technology products for the mobile environment. These guides are the first instruction a consumer sees after purchase of the product and often determine the outcome of a successful first impression.

The Drive+Play 2 is an entertainment hub solution that allows portable devices such as iPod^® to be carried into the car and then operated from a familiar user interface knob and dedicated display. Recently RCGI has also completed the Installation and Use guide for the companion BTMA Bluetooth® hands free phone support module of Drive+Play 2.

The first of the Guide+Play products was the GPS-500 followed by the GPS-300. Both are portable touch screen navigation devices that play media files too. These are known as PNDs or "Portable Navigation Devices". Since the initial Guide+Play device manuals, RCGI has completed Quick Start Guides for GPS-510, GPS-310, GPS-500/300/200 European models, and GPS-810.

In each product case, RCGI developed the critical elements of setup, installation, and use of the device with concise instruction as well as development of the rich 2-D and 3-D graphical representations. Since RCGI also handled the entire layout, we worked with Harman’s translation team to prepare files for easy translation into the final documents that are available in multiple languages in North America and Western Europe.
